The relationship is ascending — warmth more visible, cooperation easier, the sense of being valued by each other returning or arriving. Use the bright season the right way: not to coast, and not to start measuring ("are we progressing fast enough?" is the ego's sunrise trap — measurement initiates doubt, doubt breaks the climb). Brighten your own contribution instead; the sun rises by being the sun. Mind the two shadowed lines: hamster-progress (line 4) — using the good times to quietly accumulate advantage or keep private score; and the lowered horns (line 6) — force is permissible only against your own faults, never for teaching your partner lessons.
Progress in Love
Love and relationships
The sun is rising on this — advance warmly, without scorekeeping.
Read this hexagram through closeness, attraction, partnership, and emotional timing.
Hexagram 35 in love means genuine advance: the sun rising over the earth — trust growing, closeness deepening, recognition flowing between you. Progress here is a by-product: it comes not from working at the relationship but from each of you brightening what you bring to it. Keep tending that, and the climb continues by itself.
Your stock is rising: you're more visible, more confident, and connections advance more easily than they have. Two of the climb's passages to know in advance: progress turned back (line 1) — interest that stalls or trust not yet extended; stay calm and generous, the confidence not yet given comes to those who don't demand it. And progress in sorrow (line 2) — advancing alone while wishing for company; don't buy companionship with your standards. Endured rightly, the lonely stretch ends with line 3's accord: the right people fall in beside you, and the climb stops being solo.
The shadow is the ego at sunrise: taking credit for the good weather, converting warmth into entitlement, resting on the relationship's laurels while quietly expecting them to keep accruing. Watch scorekeeping above all — gains and losses tallied nightly (line 5 releases you: take neither to heart; the wide view is where the real progress lives). And never advance by aggression in a bright season; hostility spends in one evening what the sunrise took months to gather.
The six lines in love
Progressing, yet turned back
The advance stalls; trust hesitates. Stay calm and generous — steadfastness now is what earns the confidence not yet given.
Progressing in sorrow
Moving forward lonely, the connection you want still absent. Don't trade principles for company; the gentle happiness arrives in its own time.
All are in accord
The loneliness lifts — mutual feeling confirmed, others rooting for you. Let the accord carry its share; stop dwelling on old shortfalls.
Progress like a hamster
Secret accumulation inside the good times — score kept, advantages stored. Daylight audits this; return to the open path.
Take not gain and loss to heart
Release the relationship ledger entirely. Freed from tallying, everything undertaken together prospers.
Lowered horns
Force is legitimate only against your own faults. Correct your side briefly and consciously — never use the bright season to punish theirs.
Am I brightening what I bring — or measuring what I get?
What score am I quietly keeping that daylight would embarrass?
Where has warmth turned into entitlement without my noticing?
